The NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) is meant to be NBCUniversal’s version of ESPN. The network carries a variety of events such as weekly NASCAR races and Premier League soccer matches. It’s an important channel in any sports fan’s diet.

Note that NBCSN is a national network. NBC also provides a number of regional sports networks (RSNs). The national and regional channels complement each other but they are very different. They focus on particular local teams:

NBCSN only shows national games. Let’s take a closer look at what NBCSN is and how you can easily watch this network without a cable subscription.

How to Watch NBCSN Live Without Cable

NBCSN is a cable network, which means that there is no way to get it for free by using an antenna. However, it is available through a variety of streaming services, which means that you don’t need to sign up with a cable or satellite provider with a long contract.

There are four primary streaming services that offer this network. These services offer a variety of other sports channels such as Fox Sports 1 (FS1), ESPN, and CBS Sports Network. You’ll also likely be able to get access to NBC as well as the regional NBC Sports networks.

FuboTV

NBCSN is available on all FuboTV packages. The cheapest is the Startup Plan for $64.99 per month. This provides you with over 100 channels including ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, FS2, and CBS Sports Network.

For this price, you also get any of the NBC Sports RSNs in your region. So if you live in San Francisco, you will get NBC Sports Bay Area as well as NBC Sports California.

FuboTV also comes with 250 hours of cloud DVR storage. And you can stream on up to 3 devices simultaneously so there is no problem if people in your household can’t agree on what to watch.

For all the details, see our complete FuboTV review.

Hulu + Live TV

As with FuboTV, you’ll get access to the major national sports channels: NBCSN as well as CBS Sports Network, ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, and FS2 through Hulu + Live TV. In total, you get 85+ live channels for $65.99/mo. But this comes with a 7-day free trial and you get $10 off for the first three months.

Additionally, Hulu offers the same NBC Sports RSNs as does FuboTV (although FuboTV offers others as well). And it comes with 50 hours of cloud DVR storage and streaming on 2 simultaneous screens.

See our Hulu + Live TV review for more information.

SlingTV

NBCSN is available through the Sling Blue package for $35 a month. This includes the local NBC and Fox affiliates in many areas for a package of over 40 channels.

If you want, you can get the Blue-Orange plan for $50/mo and this includes ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3. And if you want even more, you can add the Sports Extra package for $11/mo. This gives you 12 more sports channels including NFL RedZone, MLB Network, NBA TV, and NHL Network.

The Blue plan comes with 50 hours of cloud DVR and the ability to stream on up to 3 devices at the same time. See our Sling TV review for all the details.

DirecTV Stream

DirecTV Stream (formerly AT&T TV) provides NBCSN with its Entertainment package for $69.99/mo. This plan also comes with ESPN, ESPN2, and FS1.

You may want to upgrade to the Choice plan for $84.99/me, however. This also gets you MLB Network and NBA TV. But more important, it gives you access to pretty much all of the RSNs throughout the nation — many more than from Hulu + Live TV or even FuboTV.

All DirecTV Stream plans come with 20 hours of cloud DVR storage. That isn’t a lot but you can upgrade it to unlimited for an extra $10/mo. More impressive, however, is that DirecTV Stream provides the ability to watch on up to 20 devices at home and 3 on the road. This is a great thing for large households.

For more information, see our DirecTV Stream review.

Other Ways to Get NBCSN

Youtube TV does offer NBCSN with its base plan for $64.99/mo. You will also get the standard national sports channels: CBS Sports Network, ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, and FS2.

NBCSN is available through the NBC Sports app, which you can download to most streaming devices. However, you will need to log in with TV Everywhere using your cable or streaming service provider before you can use it to watch.

FAQs

Is NBCSN shutting down?

It has been reported that by the end of 2021, NBCSN will be shutting down. We saw this during the Tokyo Olympics where NBCSN was mostly an afterthought. The truth is that NBCSN never became as competitive with ESPN and FS1 as NBCUniversal had hoped.

However, this does not mean NBC Sports is going away. It still has contracts with NASCAR and Premier League and the games will continue. So even though NBCSN may go away, the broader NBC Sports is just restructuring.

Major events will be shifted to other networks that are controlled by NBCUniversal — specifically the USA network — starting in 2022. And USA is available in more homes than NBCSN, so this reorganization effort will likely allow events to be seen by a greater number of people.

Where can I watch Premier League games not shown on NBCSN?

In addition to NBCSN, Premier League games can be found on other NBCUniversal properties such as NBC, Peacock, and Universo. Every Saturday morning, one Premier League game is broadcast to a national audience on either NBC or NBCSN. However, streams of other games may be available on Peacock’s website.

Where can I watch NASCAR events not shown on NBCSN?

It’s not uncommon for NASCAR events to be broadcast on FS1, FS2, and ESPN. Events may also be shown on NBC, Fox, or other networks that routinely broadcast sports content. You can check your local listings for more information as to what time an event is scheduled to start and what network it will be shown on in your area.

The best option for watching NBCSN and other Top sports channels is “BCE Premium TV”. Their prices are so reasonable I highly recommend it.

This is B’S the whole cable tv , internet tv is all about the Benjamin’s ! What about the commercials that were supposed to pay for the tv shows!! You people are just greedy America!! Shuv it!!!

Basically forced to pay extra for channels you don’t need or want. Why doesn’t NBCSN just package a premier league bundle for like $8.99 a month? I don’t need or want those other channels on Hulu Live Tv, fuboTV or sling.

Looks like their new Peacock service is $6/month and gets you all the games on replay. Many live.
