Live TV streaming has come of age over the last few years. In the past, it was difficult to replicate most of what you got from cable TV via online services. Today, you can get service that is as good or better for less money.
One area where the industry has blossomed is in its support for devices. It isn’t necessary to sit in front of your computer or connect a laptop to your TV. The best services allow you to watch live TV on virtually any device you own.
FuboTV started as a way for soccer fans in the US to watch matches all over the world. And even today, FuboTV remains one of the best streaming services for international sports fans. It offers an excellent general streaming service that is competitive with all the other industry leaders.
FuboTV offers three base plans. There are two English-language plans. The Starter plan offers a large and well-rounded selection of channels. Most of the major channels come with it: HGTV, USA, Hallmark, Nat Geo, Discovery. So do the big news channels: Fox News and MSNBC. And big sports channels like ESPN, Fox Sports, and even NFL Network.
The Elite plan adds to this some technical features plus the 47 channels in the Fubo Extra add-on. These include a lot of entertainment and lifestyle channels. But it especially increases access to sports with channels like MLB Network, NBA TV, and NHL Network.
FuboTV also offers the Spanish-language plan Latino Quarterly. It features fewer channels but they still represent a broad selection that is a good deal for the price.
(Two missing elements in FuboTV’s channel coverage are Turner and A&E. It doesn’t offer any of those channels like CNN and TBS or Lifetime and History — even as an extra. So if those channels are critical, check out some of the alternatives like Hulu and Sling TV.
- Starter plan: $64.99/mo billed monthly for 100+ channels on 3 simultaneous devices with 250 hours of cloud DVR storage.
- Elite plan: $79.99/mo billed monthly for 150+ channels on 12 simultaneous devices with 1,000 hours of cloud DVR storage.
- Latino plan: $33.00/mo billed quarterly for 32+ channels on 3 simultaneous devices with 250 hours of cloud DVR storage.
For more details about these plans, see our article on FuboTV packages.
FuboTV offers an excellent selection of channels even with its most basic plan. Below, we’ve subdivided them.
These channels span a wide range. They include movies, nature-oriented material, new and old TV series, kids programming, documentary, how-to, and pretty much everything else you associate with cable TV. Some of them also provide minor coverage of news and sports.
There are a total of 47 channels in this category including most of what you think of as standard cable channels: AMC, Comedy Central, Food Network, Hallmark, Nickelodeon, USA, and VH1. It also includes the Fubo Movie Network and the Disney Channel.
News and Information Channels
FuboTV provides good coverage of news and information. In most locations, there are more channels in this category that fall under local channels in the form of network affiliates.
There are 13 channels in this category including the national feeds of the network news channels, MSNBC, Fox News, and The Weather Channel.
As mentioned above, FuboTV started as a sports streaming service and even though it has broadened over the years, it still provides exceptional coverage of live sports. In addition to these channels, FuboTV offers regional sports networks (RSNs) but they are location-dependent.
There are 38 channels in this category including 9 channels of beIN Sports, 12 channels of TUDN, two ESPN, two Fox Sports, and specialized channels like NFL Network.
Local Channels and Regional Sports Networks
FuboTV offers access to 8 local network affiliates: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Telemundo, Univision, and UniMás. However, as with all providers, this access is location-dependent. Coverage for each network also varies.
Note, however, that FuboTV has done a good job of providing coverage where there is demand. For example, coverage of the three Spanish-language networks is excellent in high-Latinx areas like Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Miami.
In terms of regional sports networks, FuboTV offers 13 base channels (with 4 providing sister stations). But you will only get a subset of these depending on your location.
For complete information about local and regional channels, see our FuboTV local channel guide.
In addition to the live TV channels, FuboTV provides a good selection of on-demand content.
If all that comes with the base plans is not enough, there are many add-ons you can select from. We will list them briefly here. If you want details, see our FuboTV review.
- SHOWTIME: $10.99/mo
- STARZ: $8.99/mo
- EPIX: $5.99/mo
- AMC Premiere: $4.99/mo.

There are also technical add-ons. One, Cloud DVR 1000 ($16.99/mo), increases your DVR storage from 250 hours to 1,000 hours. This is included with the Elite plan.
Probably more important, Unlimited Screens ($9.99/mo) allows you to stream on up to 10 devices at home simultaneously. It also allows you to stream on two devices on the road. This too is included with the Elite plan.
Supported FuboTV Devices
FuboTV does not support quite as many devices as some live TV streaming services like Hulu. But those that it doesn’t support are older, marginal devices. FuboTV’s supported devices are roughly the same as those for YouTube TV and Sling TV.
For almost all users, FuboTV has you covered:
|Amazon Fire TV||All|
|Android Mobile||Android OS 5.0||2014 onwards|
|Apple TV||4th gen||2015 onwards|
|Chromecast||2nd gen||2015 onwards|
|iPad||iPadOS 13.1||2017 onwards|
|iPod Touch||Gen 7||2019 onwards|
|Roku||Model 3700X||3600X limited functions|
|Samsung Smart TVs||2015 – 2020 models|
|Xbox One||All||2013 onwards|
Amazon Fire TV
Amazon Fire TV is one of the most popular devices for streaming live TV. FuboTV is compatible with all Fire TV devices, as well as TVs that have Fire TV built-in (specific Insignia, Toshiba, and Element models).
These devices must have Android OS 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher, which shouldn’t be a problem. For example, FuboTV will run on all Fire tablets from 2015 onward.
You can stream FuboTV using an Android app that works on Google approved mobile phones and tablets. These devices must have Android OS 5.0 or higher installed.
You can stream FuboTV directly to your TV if you have a Google-approved Android TV device or a TV with Android TV built-in. Just like with Android Mobile or Amazon Fire TV, you need to make sure your device has Android OS 5.0 or higher installed. This includes specific models from Asus, Hisense, Panasonic, Philips, Sharp, Sony, and TCL. But there are many more manufacturers (see FuboTV support).
You can also stream FuboTV on your Apple TV. All devices 4th generation or later are supported. That’s 2015 onward. You may also want to update your device’s tvOS to version v13.0 or higher. This will help make sure your viewing experience is flawless.
Haven’t sprung for a smart TV yet? No problem. You can also watch FuboTV on both Mac and PC computers. Just make sure to use the latest version of Chrome, EDGE, Firefox, or Safari.
Chromecast is another option for watching FuboTV. You can stream content using either Chromecast (2nd generation or later) or Chromecast Ultra. You can also watch using a TV with Google Cast built-in, such as Vizio SmartCast 3.0 TVs. You can do this using an Android or iOS device — or just a Chrome browser.
iPhone, iPad, and iPod
FuboTV is compatible with several Apple products. Stream the big game on your iPhone 6s or newer. You can also watch on the iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or newer, iPad 5th generation or newer, or the iPad Mini 2 or newer.
The FuboTV app will also work with the iPod Touch Generation 7 or newer. You should be able to stream on any device using iOS v13.0 or higher.
The FuboTV app is compatible with any Roku device that can still receive OS updates. This is because older devices may not have the features needed to support the streaming app.
For streaming with limited functionality (no autoplay or background video), you’ll need a Roku Model 3600X. For full support, you need Model 3700X or newer. Roku is one of the most popular FuboTV devices.
Samsung Smart TV
Samsung Smart TV models released between 2015 and 2020 are compatible with FuboTV. However, not all features are available. The streaming service is looking to introduce additional features in the near future.
These are the devices that are currently compatible with FuboTV. If you want to learn more about what it has to offer, check out our full FuboTV review. If you want to see if FuboTV is right for you, try the service free for 7 days.
With all its plans, FuboTV offers over 100 live events every year in 4K. As with pretty much every other provider, this is upscaled. But it still looks great.
If you want to watch these events in 4K, however, you need a device that displays 4K. Before we list the devices, note that some events also require HDR10. Additionally, you need to use an HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 cable. And FuboTV recommends a minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps.

How many devices can I stream at once?
With FuboTV, you can stream on multiple devices simultaneously. However, the number of devices you can stream on depends on which plan you purchase. With the Startup and Latino Quarterly plans, you can stream on three devices simultaneously from your home location. With the elite plan (or the Unlimited Screens add-on), you can stream on up to 10 screens at home and 2 others remotely.
What devices support FuboTV?
FuboTV’s device support is vast. There are over 800 models of TV with Android TV built-in that you can use with it. In addition, there are many smart TVs that work as well as devices like Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and more. Almost any streaming device manufactured since 2015 is supported.
How do I cast FuboTV to my TV?
Using Chromecast to watch FuboTV on your Smart TV is easy. But the process is slightly different depending on you device. If you are using a Chrome browser, you just select “Cast” from Options (3 vertical dots) and select the device you want to cast to. If you are using an Android or iOS app, you select the Chromecast icon from the top right of the screen and select the device you want. That’s it!
Can I get FuboTV on my smart TV?
FuboTV offers great support for Smart TVs. There are countless models of smart TVs you can use. You can use any of the hundreds of models that have Android TV built-in. The many Samsung Smart TVs of the last 6 years can also be used.
Can I skip commercials on FuboTV?
You can’t skip commercials on live TV just as you can’t with cable or through an antenna. But for programs that are recorded on your included cloud DVR, you can skip commercials. This is not true of all streaming services. Hulu, for example, charges extra for this ability.
