FOX is one of the most important networks on TV. From legendary and record-setting shows like The Simpsons to the biggest sporting events of the year (including NFL games like Thursday Night Football and MLB Playoffs/World Series) to breaking news, FOX carries it all. You will definitely want to be able to watch FOX – but what if you don’t have cable? Can you watch FOX without cable TV?
Turns out, you can! It’s actually easier than ever nowadays to watch FOX online without cable TV thanks to streaming services like fuboTV (free 7-day trial) and Hulu Live (free 7-day trial). The guide below will show you how you can get FOX with no cable or satellite.
How to Watch FOX Without Cable: At a Glance
Basically, there are two different ways to get FOX without a cable subscription:
Streaming Services, like fuboTV and Hulu with Live TV offer the FOX live stream in many areas, along with many other channels (usually 50+). Everything can be watched live, just like if you had cable, and there’s also on-demand content available. These services usually cost around $40 per month.
Digital Antennas, which install inside (or on top of) your home, let you watch FOX for free – so long as you’re within the broadcasting range of your local FOX affiliate. Antennas will pick up broadcast networks like FOX, CBS, and NBC in many areas, and there’s no subscription or cost to worry about (beyond the cost of buying the antenna).
We will explain these options in further detail in the sections below.
Using Streaming Services to Watch FOX Online Without Cable
The alternative to an antenna is to use a paid streaming service to gain access to the FOX live stream. While this method isn’t free, it offers some significant benefits. The most obvious is that these services include many channels, not just broadcast networks that antennas can pick up.
These streaming services work over the internet, using a compatible device. To use one, you’ll need a streaming player like a Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, etc. You can also use your smartphone or computer.
All you need to do is sign up for a service, log into it using your device, and you can immediately begin watching LIVE TV whenever you please.
These services are similar to cable TV, except they’re a lot cheaper and more flexible. They are also non-contract, which means you can cancel at any time.

Other Ways to Watch FOX Online Without Cable TV
There are several other streaming services that offer FOX streaming. These include:
What about Sling TV? While Sling used to offer FOX in a handful of areas, they are currently in a dispute with the network and all FOX stations are temporarily unavailable at this time. We’ll update this article should anything change. See our Sling TV review for further details!
Using Antennas to Watch FOX for Free
A good digital antenna will let you watch FOX without cable TV or satellite. And once you’ve purchased the antenna, this method is free!
Did you know that many of the most popular networks on TV – including FOX, CBS, and NBC – all broadcast over the air, for free? All you need to pick up these networks is a reliable antenna. Not everyone can get reception in their home, so just know this may not be an option for all.
An antenna will install either inside your home (usually placed above your TV or installed in an attic space), or on top of your roof. From there, it will pick up any broadcast TV networks that are in your area.
Now, keep in mind that this only works for broadcast networks. The main ones are FOX, CBS, NBC, The CW, and ABC. You should get your local FOX affiliate, as well as affiliates of other local channels. However, you will not get popular cable networks like ESPN, AMC, TBS, FOX News, etc. For these channels, you’ll need a streaming service (see below).
Antennas are a great way to watch FOX without cable for free. That said, there are some limitations.
The big one is channel availability. The channels you will be able to pick up depends on where you live, and how far away you are from the nearest stations. Various resources like the FCC DTV map and AntennaWeb help you to estimate which stations you might pick up. But ultimately, it’s tough to tell what channels you get – and how clear of a picture you’ll enjoy – until you actually install an antenna.
To improve your odds of getting the best signal possible, it’s important to choose a good antenna. For this, see the section below!
Antenna Options for Watching FOX Without Cable
If you’ve decided to try out an antenna for FOX access, you’ll want to pick a reliable model. Here are some recommendations:
For indoor use, the Mohu Leaf 30 is a great choice.
- Range of up to 40 miles
- Affordable and easy to use
- Very small and unobtrusive
- Best-selling model
- Picks up full HD (and even 4k in some cases)
- Good reviews from customers
For outdoor use, the Winegard Elite 7550 is a great option.
- Range of up to 70 miles
- Better for rural use
- Very durable design
- Digital amplifier included (helps improve signal)
- Relatively small compared to many outdoor antennas
- Excellent reviews from customers
In our experience, these antennas do a great job. That said, ANY antenna will be subject to some issues, particularly for folks living far away from major cities. Keep in mind that signal strength will vary, even with high-end antennas.
Being able to watch FOX without cable is a lot easier than it used to be – and we’re grateful for that! Either of these options (antenna or streaming service) could be better for you – it really just depends on your specific circumstances and preferences.
