Big Ten Conference Football Channels

The Big Ten Conference broadcasts are a little weird. Games are mostly broadcast on Fox Sports and ESPN channels. But most teams tend one way or the other. For example, Most Ohio State games appear on Fox Sports channels and most Purdue games appear on ESPN channels.

Overall, games appear on:

  • ESPN
  • ESPN2
  • ESPN3 (ABC)
  • Fox
  • FS1
  • Big Ten Network.

There are some games on other channels. But when it comes to the Big Ten, there are surprisingly few. We will discuss below how to stream all these channels.

Streaming Big Ten Football With Sling TV

For $55.00/mo, you can get Sling Orange & Blue (it is $5/mo when ABC is included). With it, you get local affiliates of ABC, Fox, and NBC in select markets along with FS1 from the Sling Blue plan and ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3 from the Sling Orange plan.

You could opt to just get one of the base plans and this would work well for particular teams. Which plan to get would depend on the team.

The Sling Orange & Blue plan comes with 45+ channels. These include 25 channels that are shared by the Blue and Orange plans: A&E, AMC, BET, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, HGTV, Lifetime, Nick Jr, TBS, TNT, and more. And it comes with plan-specific channels Bravo, Discovery, Disney, Freeform, FX, MotorTrend, National Geographic, QVC, and USA Network. You also get the Big 3 cable news channels: CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.

Note that 4 of the 59 games through September will air on CBS. It is not available from Sling TV. You can get it by setting up an antenna (which you can integrate with Sling) or subscribing to Paramount+ Premium (deal).

Sports Extra

The Big Ten Network broadcasts a lot of NCAA football games in addition to a ton of other sports featuring the conference teams. It is available with the Sports Extra add on with either the Sling Blue ($11/mo) or Sling Orange & Blue ($15/mo) plans.

With the Sling Blue plan, this adds 11 channels: beIN Sports, Big Ten Network, FS2, Golf Channel, MLB Network, MLB Network Strike Zone, NBA TV, NFL RedZone, NHL Network, Pac-12 Network (main and regional channels), and Tennis Channel.

With Sling Orange & Blue, you get 7 more channels: ACC Network, ACC Network Extra, ESPNU, ESPNews, Longhorn Network, SEC Network, and SEC Network Plus.

Features

You get 50 hours of cloud DVR storage with either the single plans or Sling Orange & Blue.

In terms of how many people can stream at one time, things are a bit complicated. You can stream on up to 3 devices at once with the Blue channels, only one with the Orange channels, and 4 on the channels that are included in both plans. So you can’t stream any two ESPN channels at once. Notice that this also applies to ACC Network, SEC Network, and Longhorn Network — but not Big Ten Network, which can be streamed on up to 3 devices at once.

Sling TV allows you to stream on most devices:

  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Android Mobile
  • Android TV smart TVs
  • Apple TV
  • Chromecast
  • iOS
  • LG smart TVs
  • Oculus VR systems
  • Roku
  • Samsung smart TVs
  • Vizio smart TVs
  • Web browsers
  • Xbox One gaming systems

Sling TV Advantages

A big selling point of Sling TV is its price. With Sling Orange, you get ESPN for $40.00/mo. With Sling Orange, you get local affiliates of Fox and NBC (select markets) for as little as $40.00/mo. No other streaming service comes close.

Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, Vidgo, and YouTube TV all offer more channels. But they don’t offer similar prices.

Another thing to consider is Sling TV’s channel options. They offer an unmatched selection of individual channel add-ons as well as channel collections — like the Sports Extra but which focus on Hollywood movies, family programming, lifestyle channels, and so on.

Other things to consider are Sling’s streaming devices support, its incredible antenna integration, great on-demand selection, and included cloud DVR.
