Streaming the Aer Lingus

There are lots of ways that you can stream this game. In fact, if this is the only game you want to stream, you can just sign up for Peacock for $5.99/mo (Black Friday deal details). It will not offer you that much for the whole NCAA football season.

If you want to follow the whole season (especially the Fighting Irish), we recommend getting Sling TV. The Sling Blue plan comes with NBC in the following markets:

  • Boston (WBTS)
  • Chicago (WMAQ)†‡
  • Dallas/Fort Worth (KXAS)†
  • Hartford/New Haven (WVIT)
  • Los Angeles (KNBC)†‡
  • Miami/Fort Lauderdale (WTVJ)
  • New York (WNBC)†‡
  • Philadelphia (WCAU)†‡
  • San Diego (KNSD)
  • San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose (KNTV)†‡
  • Washington, DC (WRC)†

Note: Locations marked with † also come with the local Fox station. Those marked with ‡ come with the local ABC station and cost $5/mo more.

Sling Blue comes with many other channels. In particular, you get Fox Sports 1 (FS1) and NFL Network. You also get A&E, AMC, BET, Bravo, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, Comedy Central, Discovery, Food Network, FX, HGTV, History, Lifetime, National Geographic, Syfy, TBS, TLC, TNT, USA Network, and more. And you get the Big 3 cable news channels CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.

All Sling plans come with 50 hours of cloud DVR storage. This isn’t a huge amount but in our experience, going much beyond that just ends up creating a big collection of shows and movies you will never get around to watching.

You can also watch on up to 3 devices at once, which is great for households that disagree about what to watch. And you can watch on most streaming devices including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku. You can also stream on mobile devices with iOS and Android operating systems. Most smart TVs are supported including LG, Samsung, Vizio, and Android TV-based units. And so are gaming systems Xbox and Oculus.

Sling TV Advantages

Sling TV offers many advantages over cable, satellite, and even other streaming services. One, of course, is that it doesn’t use contracts. You simply pay month-to-month and you get the same low price.

And speaking of low prices, Sling TV is the king of the streaming world when it comes to that. No one comes close to its price of $40.00/mo while offering local channels and sports. And for just $15/mo more, you can get Sling Orange & Blue with ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and The Disney Channel!

Even better, you get a whole month to try out the service with a 50% discount!

But there is much more that we like about Sling TV. Despite its low price, Sling offers an unmatched selection of individual and group channel add-ons for as little as $3/mo.

It also features a clean, modern interface across devices that allows you to stream the way you want to.

Aer Lingus College Football Classic

NCAA has a long history with the country of Ireland. It takes back to 1988, when the Emerald Isle Classic became the first NCAA football game took place in Europe. It would later be called the Shamrock Classic, Croke Park Classic, and (since 2016) the Aer Lingus College Football Classic with sponsorship from the airline. Although it is always played in Dublin, the venue has changed over the years.

The 2023 edition of this game will be the eighth. But it has been played yearly since 2022 with the 2024 edition already scheduled to pit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets against the Florida State Seminoles.

The first two editions of this game were played at Lansdowne Road as Emerald Isle Classic although when it returned in 2012, it was played at Aviva Stadium, where all events have been played since 2016. Croke Park was the location for the 1996 Shamrock Classic and (obviously) the 2014 Croke Park Classic.

This year features Notre Dame and Navy. These teams have twice played each other in Dublin (1996, 2012) with the Fighting Irish winning both times. The only other team to have played more than once in this series is the Boston College Eagles (1988, 2016). But next year, Yellow Jackets will have two appearances after their first in 2016.

Here is a list of the previous games:

  • 1988 — November 19th: Boston College (38) vs Army (24)
  • 1989 — December 2nd: Pittsburgh (46) vs Rutgers (29)
  • 1996 — November 2nd: Notre Dame (54) vs Navy (27)
  • 2012 — September 1st: Notre Dame (50) vs Navy (10)
  • 2014 — August 30th: Penn State (26) vs UCF (24)
  • 2016 — September 3rd: Georgia Tech (17) vs Boston College (14) — ESPN2
  • 2022 — August 27th: Northwestern (31) vs Nebraska (28) — Fox
