The Shriners Children’s 500 is the latest name for the NASCAR Cup Series race held at the Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, typically in March following the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas. The race has been an annual event since 2005 and is one of two NASCAR Cup Series events that take place at this circuit (the second being the NASCAR Cup Series Championship race usually held in October/November).

Due to sponsorship changes, the race has had a different name almost every year. In 2023, it was known as the United Rentals Work United 500. In 2022, it was called the Ruoff Mortgage 500, and in 2021 it was the Instacart 500.

Last year’s event was won by William Byron, who also went on to win the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway and recently won this year’s Daytona 500. To find out if he’ll win the Shriners Children’s 500 in 2024, keep reading to learn the easiest and cheapest way to watch the race live with Sling TV.

FAQ

How can I stream NASCAR races for free?

Fox Sports and NBC Sports currently have the broadcast rights to NASCAR (and will be joined by Amazon Prime and Warner Bros. Discovery / TNT from 2025), so you cannot stream NASCAR races without a paid subscription to one of these channels. Since Sling TV provides Fox, Fox Sports 1 (FS1), and NBC in its Sling Blue plan, you can watch every NASCAR race with just one cheap subscription.

Fox will air most of the earlier season races, such as the Ambetter Health 400 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and the Food City 500 at the Bristol Motor Speedway. FS1 will start with the Cook Out 400 at the Martinsville Speedway (though it also airs the two Duels at the Daytona Speedway at the start of the season).

The USA Network will also show some races, starting with the Iowa Corn 350 at the Iowa Speedway.

What is the biggest NASCAR race?

The longest race in the NASCAR calendar is the Coca-Cola 600, which takes place during Memorial Day Weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. The race is 600 miles and starts around (local time) so the event begins during the day and finishes at night.

Concord, North Carolina is also home to the Bank of America Roval 400 race later in the season, though this event takes place on a road-course configuration known as the Roval circuit.
