Halloween Havoc started as a World Championship Wrestling (WCW) PPV event back in 1989. The WWE later purchased the WCW and brought the event back in 2020. At first, it was just part of the regular NXT show. But starting last year, it became its own event.

Like the weekly NXT show itself, Halloween Havoc airs on USA Network. In fact, it so happens that this year, Halloween is on Tuesday and so the event just takes the place of the show.
