How to Get FS1 Without Cable

Fox Sports 1 (FS1) is the primary channel of the Fox Sports Media Group, which includes Fox Sports 2 (FS2), Fox Deportes, Big Ten Network, and more. Unlike its parent channel, Fox, you can’t set up an antenna and watch FS1 for free. Your only option to watch it without cable is by using a streaming service, which we will discuss in detail below.

FS1 Programming

The focus of FS1 is live sporting events. However, it also offers a great selection of shows.

Live Sports on FS1

Broadly speaking, FS1 covers a wide variety of live sports such as regular season and postseason Major League Baseball, soccer, golf championships, combat sports, and motorsports. It also shows college sports covering Big Ten, Pac-12, and Big 12 football games and Big East basketball matchups. It has also carried the Holiday Bowl in the past.

FS1 airs a lot of MLB games each season (see schedule below) many of the National League playoff games as well. It is also the home for most games of the World Baseball Classic.

Regarding soccer, FS1 broadcasts the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 Women’s World Cup. It also covers Liga MX (Mexico), the Canadian Premier League, CONCACAF Champions League (Sling guide) and CONCACAF Gold Cup (North America), and Major League Soccer (what remains on live TV).

FS1 does not offer much in the way of professional football — no NFL or even XFL. But it is home to a notable number of USFL games each season.

FS1 is the home of NASCAR for the first half of the season. It features a large number of NASCAR Cup Series (including the Goodyear 400), NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races. It also airs National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag races.

Other sports include pro bowling (PBA), Westminster dog shows, horse racing (including the Belmont Stakes), and Major League Rugby.

FS1 Shows and Personalities

There are various documentaries shown on FS1 — usually during off-hours. And it features shows that surround events — in particular, during the season, NASCAR Race Hub and NASCAR RaceDay.

Its weekday programming is anchored by these six shows:

  • The Carton Show: Morning sports talk with Craig Carton.
  • First Things First: Daily sports discussion with Chris Broussard, Kevin Wildes, and Nick Wright.
  • The Herd with Colin Cowherd: Video broadcast of the daily radio show.
  • Speak (formerly Speak for Yourself): Sports discussion with Emmanuel Acho, LeSean McCoy, and Joy Taylor.
  • TMZ Sports: Late-night sports gossip.
  • Undisputed: Once called Skip & Shannon: Undisputed, it is a daily sports discussion show. Longtime co-host Shannon Sharpe has left the show. It isn’t clear if he will be replaced. Skip Bayless is still around.

Other Fox Sports Channels

FS1 is the primary channel of the Fox Sports Brand. But the entirety of Fox Sports is spread over a number of other channels:

  • Fox: The base network channel also shows many of the top events featured Fox Sports.
  • FS2: This is the FS1 overflow channel. Mostly, it shows rebroadcasts of FS1 material. But there are many times when FS2 is absolutely essential.
  • Fox Soccer Plus: Although it does focus on soccer coverage, it’s probably best to think of this as FS3. It also shows rugby and similar games.
  • Fox Deportes: This is more or less FS1 but in Spanish. It’s actually even more because it often shows coverage of events that appear on Fox itself.
  • Big Ten Network: Four channels of college sports with a focus on the Big Ten Conference.

Wrapping up

No matter which service you choose, watching FS1 through streaming services is going to be easy. And you aren’t tied to a contract because everything is billed month-to-month.

Our best recommendation for streaming FS1 is Fubo. Fubo allows you to try out its service with a free trial.

FAQs

What is FOX Sports 1?

FOX Sports 1, or FS1, is Fox Sports’s flagship network. It broadcasts live sports as well as news, statistics, analysis, and discussion on the world of athletics. It sometimes airs sports-related docu-series and reality shows. Some popular series are Skip & Shannon: Undisputed, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, First Things First, and WWE Friday Night Smackdown.

What is FS1 other than Fox Sports 1?

With a name like FS1, it isn’t surprising that Fox Sports 1 gets confused with other things. These include:

  • FS1: A German-made unmanned lightvessel (lighthouse on a boat). Similar vessels were named FS3 and FS4 but (thankfully) not FS2.
  • FS1 — Community TV Salzburg: A public TV station in Austria.
  • Yamaha FS1: A small motorcycle (some models with pedals) known as the “Fizzy.” It was produced from 1973 through 1983 for the European and UK markets.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator: The first version was sometimes referred to as FS1.
  • Socket FS1: The socket on AMD-powered laptop motherboards that the APU (CPU and IGPU) is plugged into. It is still being installed in units today.

Don’t get us started on FSI.

What is the difference between FS1 and FS2?

FS1 is the main Fox Sports network. FS2 is generally reruns of FS1 programs, overflow coverage (events that would be on FS1 but FS1 ran out of programming time to schedule), and some sports/events with lower viewership. Because FS2 reaches fewer households, Fox sometimes preempts more popular weekend events (like PAC-12 football games) to Fox Business Network (which only has paid programming on weekends when the markets are closed).

Can I get FS1 with an antenna?

FS1 is a pay-TV channel or what used to be called a “cable station.” So it isn’t broadcast over the air and thus is not available via antenna. You can, however, get your local Fox affiliate via antenna. And Fox broadcasts a lot of sports.

Can I pay for just Fox Sports?

Fox Sports is not available by itself. You must get it as part of a larger streaming package. This can be confusing because the Fox Sports app is free. But once inside the app, you must associate it with a supported streaming service (or cable plan) to live stream games.

What is the cost to watch FS1?

Since you can’t get just Fox Sports by itself (see previous question/answer), the cost to watch is the monthly cost of a TV provider. The good news is that streaming services are generally significantly cheaper than comparable cable or satellite systems, and are a lot more flexible. You can pick up FS1 for as little as $40.00/mo with Sling Blue.

What are the best ways to watch FS1 without cable?

The best way to get FS1 depends on what you’re looking for. Fubo is a great sports-first streaming service. DIRECTV STREAM is great in general with the best selection of RSNs. If you want lots of on-demand content to watch when the game’s not on, Hulu + Live TV includes Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+. And if you just want to go with the cheapest option, Sling TV’s Sling Blue package is half as much.

Is FS1 on any streaming service?

FS1 on ALL of the streaming services that carry sports channels at all. Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, Vidgo, Sling TV, and YouTube TV all carry it in their base plans, so you don’t need any add-ons or extras. FS2, though, is frequently found in a higher tier of service or add-on package.

How can I stream FS1?

You’ll need a TV provider to stream FS1. Unfortunately, long-term, there’s just no way around it. You can get a lot of Fox’s sports programming from Fox itself, and you can take advantage of free trials or previews while they last. But eventually, you’re going to have to pony up if you want to keep watching FS1 the whole season.

Once you sign up with a TV provider, what you need to do depends on what kind of provider you have. If it’s one of the live TV streaming services discussed in this article like Fubo or Sling TV, you can just stream it right through your provider’s app on your preferred supported device. If it’s a cable or satellite service, you can sign in with your cable or satellite username and password at foxsports.com or on the Fox Sports app.

Can I record live games on FS1?

Every service that carries FS1 has cloud DVR storage. There are currently no restrictions on recording live sports, generally speaking, and in fact, a majority of sports fans do, whether to watch the game at a more convenient time or to be able to skip ads.

Hulu Live, DIRECTV STREAM, and YouTube TV all offer unlimited storage, which means you can record as much as you want — though note that they’ll only keep it for a max of nine months. Fubo caps you at 1,000 hours but lets you keep recordings forever. Sling TV only gives you 50 to start, but you can upgrade that if you fill it up. Vidgo is new to the cloud DVR thing and is currently only offering 20 hours.

Can I watch FS1 on your Xbox One?

You can watch FS1 on the Xbox One if your TV provider is Fubo, Hulu Live, Sling TV, or YouTube TV. DIRECTV STREAM and Vidgo don’t support any game consoles (yet). For other providers, including satellite and cable services, check your provider’s help section for more information; all of them have sections for device support.

Can I use the PlayStation to stream FS1?

You can stream FS1 on a PlayStation if you subscribe to either Hulu + Live TV or YouTube TV. They both support both PS4 and PS5 units. It isn’t surprising that both streaming services also have industry-defining on-demand services. None of the other live TV streaming services seem inclined to develop PlayStation apps.

How do I stream FS1 on my Roku device?

Every live TV streaming service we know of supports Roku devices and TVs. So you can watch FS1 on DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, Vidgo, and YouTube TV. Just go to Search and find the app for your streaming service. It will appear under Live in the Roku menu.

Can I stream FS1 on my Amazon Fire TV?

The Amazon Fire TV (firestick) is another streaming device that is pretty much universally supported. Other than some minor single-channel services like the occasional RSN, everyone supports it. All the services that offer FS1 provide apps for the Fire TV — DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, Vidgo, and YouTube TV.

Does FS1 stream on the Apple TV?

If you can stream FS1, you can do so on the Apple TV device. It is like the Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices in that it is standard in the streaming industry. Note that Apple TV is different from iOS. iOS is Apple’s mobile platform that is used in iPhones and iPads. It too is universally supported, however.

Can I watch FS1 on Android TV?

Android TV isn’t a streaming device. Instead, it is a smart TV operating system. Many smart TVs have it as their base. Models from many companies use it such as Hisense, Sony, TCL, and more. These are all supported by the streaming services that offer FS1. Android TV is distinct from the mobile OS and the devices based on it. However, they too is universally supported.

Can I use Chromecast to stream FS1?

Chromecast is supported by all the live TV streaming services that offer FS1. Chromecast is a special kind of streaming device that allows users to cast from their phones and some web browsers to their TVs. It sounds complicated but it’s actually easy to use. And it is convenient since using your phone is often necessary for managing streaming passwords and so on.

Is FS1 available on Amazon Prime?

FS1 is not available on Amazon Prime. You will find the Fox Sports app in the Amazon app store, which seems like it would fit the bill. Unfortunately for cord-cutters, this is the same Fox Sports app you can get on your phone or for your TV that lets you watch FS1 and other Fox Sports channels and content — as long as you can log in with a TV provider.

However, Prime Video is incorporating more live content all the time, so that could change in the future. For now, Prime Video offers its own exclusive live sporting events, like Thursday Night Football.

Is the FS1 channel on Hulu?

Hulu still offers subscriptions for just its original on-demand library, and that won’t have any live channels like FS1. To get live “cable” channels like FS1, ESPN, Fox News, CNN, Discovery, Nickelodeon, and so forth, you have to subscribe to Hulu + Live TV, which starts at $76.99/mo (but still includes the on-demand library along with Disney+ and ESPN+).

Is FS1 on Netflix?

FS1 is not on Netflix, which is purely an on-demand service, with no live events or channels of any kind. You won’t find any game archives here, either. There are sports-related movies and TV series, as well as some documentaries and other athletically-themed content. Just search for “sports movies.”

Can you watch FS1 on YouTube?

You can watch FS1 on YouTube TV, Google’s live TV streaming service that’s similar to Hulu Live. YouTube, though, the original site with the short user-generated videos? It does not include FS1. Instead, you’ll find channels for Fox Sports, Fox Soccer, and UFC on Fox and their most popular shows. Most of these will be just trailers, sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes, or clips, though.

Is FS1 on Paramount+?

FS1 is not on Paramount+, the successor service to CBS All Access, is owned by Paramount Global, which operates CBS, BET, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount Pictures. CBS is Fox’s direct competitor. You can watch CBS’s live sports events on Paramount+, provided you have a Premium account.

How can you watch FS1 in Canada?

You can’t watch FS1 in Canada, sadly. However, when FS1 took over the channel slot that was previously occupied by the motorsports network Speed (which was available in Canada and other international markets), Speed remained on the air outside the US. In 2015, it was renamed Fox Sports Racing, in line with the other Fox Sports properties. It remains mostly motorsports, such as NASCAR, NHRA, ARCA, Formula E, and Grand Prix motorcycle races.

Other events that air on FS1 in the United States may be broadcast by different channels in Canada — check your local listings. For example, the Westminster Dog Show is on Sportsnet.

What channel number is FS1 on?

Channel numbers are handy but they do tie down customers. We know many people who won’t switch to streaming simply because they have channel numbers memorized. The channel number for FS1 depends entirely on where you get your service. Here are the numbers for the top cable and satellite services:

  • AT&T: 652 (SD) and 1652 (HD)
  • Cable One: 146
  • Comcast/Xfinity (West): 408
  • Comcast/Xfinity (Northeast): 250
  • Comcast/Xfinity (Central): 237
  • Cox: Varies but 73 in California, 50 in Ohio, 60 in Kansas
  • DirecTV: 219
  • Dish: 150
  • Frontier: 652/1652 (Connecticut) and 651 (elsewhere)
  • MediaCom: 58 (SD) and 861 (HD)
  • Spectrum: Varies but most often 400
  • Verizon: 83 (SD) and 583 (HD)
