What is Hulu Latino? Guide to Hulu en Español

Hulu Latino banner

Now Spanish Speaking Cord Cutters have even more Cable TV Alternatives with Hulu en Español

It’s no secret that the Latino population is one of the fastest growing in the United States. There are approximately 54 million Latino Americans, and that number will only continue to grow over the coming decades.

Despite the size and speed in which the Latino population is expanding, most media companies have failed to tap into this wholly unexplored market. The one exception to this rule is the streaming service Hulu.

Hulu Latino (free one-month trial) gives Spanish-speakers access to a ton of great series, including everything from the most recent episodes to full past seasons. In our Hulu Latino review, we take a closer look at this streaming service to see how much Hulu en Español costs, what it offers, and more.

Watching Television in Spanish without Cable

Cord Cutting Guide for Spanish TV Content

Hola cortadores de cable de compañeros, cómo estás?

Whether you’re looking for entertainment in your native language or just someone looking for a little practice, it can be hard to find Spanish language content on television. Despite having to pay hundreds of dollars a month to cable providers, the number of Spanish language channels is few and far between.

If the dearth of Spanish language content on cable television has you thinking that your options would be even worse if you cut the cord, then set your mind at ease. Not only is there a wide selection of Spanish language content online, it often costs a lot less than cable.

Today we’re going to take a look at how you can cut the cord and still get all the Spanish language television and film that you crave. Let’s get started!

Over-the-Air Channels in Spanish

The cheapest way to watch Television in Spanish is to purchase an Over-the-Air (OTA) antenna. For those of you that don’t know, an OTA antenna picks up the signals from all the major broadcast networks, like ABC or CBS. Most antennas are very affordable, ranging from $30 to $60. I would recommend a Mohu Leaf 30 or the Winegard Elite 7550. Both of these are inexpensive, dependable, and do a great job picking up signals.

For Spanish language programming you can get free over the air with an antenna, the two television networks you’ll be looking for is Univision and Telemundo. They’ll have all the popular Spanish language shows you’re looking for; like Metastasis or La Gata.

Sadly, Telemundo and Univision are only accessible to about 50-60 percent of American homes so it won’t be uncommon to be missing one of those networks. Would you like to know what stations are in your area? Check out AntennaWeb and find out if Univision and Telemundo are available in your area.

If Univision and Telemundo are not in your area, don’t worry because there are a bunch of different ways to get access to these channels. And if you keep reading, you’ll find out.

Spanish Channels Streaming on Hulu Live TV

Hulu with Live TV is a newer live streaming service that offers a decent option for Spanish TV streaming. Right now, Hulu does not offer standalone Spanish language content, so you’ll have to subscribe to a base package and then add a Spanish add-on. Hulu Live TV costs $40 per month for 50+ channels. From there, get the Español Add-on for $4.99 per month to get:

  • CNN en Español
  • Discovery en Español
  • Discovery Familia
  • ESPN Deportes
  • History Channel en Español
  • NBC Universo

So, you’ll end up paying $45 per month for a great selection of English channels, and an okay selection of Spanish channels. See our Hulu Live TV review for more information. There’s also a free trial available.

Univision Now

In a move similar to CBS All Access, Univision has recently launched its own standalone streaming service call Univision Now. For $9.99 a month you get live and on-demand access to both Univision and UniMás. This includes live sports, news and all their regular programming.

With your subscription, you can watch on up to three screens simultaneously. You’ll also get some DVR functionality, with recorded programs lasting up to 72 hours. As far as device support goes, you can watch Univision Now on Roku, your PC, or smartphone. Start your free trial today!

Love Soccer? Then you need to read “How to Watch Soccer Online”.

Spanish Channels on DIRECTV NOW

DIRECTV NOW is one of the hottest streaming services to hit the market, and for good reason. Offering a bunch of Spanish speaking TV channels, DirecTV Now is a great cable TV alternative for Spanish speaking cord-cutters.

Here are a few of the channels available on their base-package called “Live a Little” ($40 a month):

  • Galavision
  • Telemundo
  • Univision

DIRECTV NOW also offers a Spanish language package, called TODO Y MÁS. This package includes both English language and Spanish language channels, with a total of 90+ networks to watch! Here are some of the included channels:

  • 50+ Spanish channels and 40+ English channels
  • ESPN Deportes
  • FOX Deportes
  • Univision
  • Discovery en Español
  • Galavision
  • Cine Estelar
  • Much more

Spanish Channels on Sling TV

Probably the best bang for your buck is going to be Sling TV, which offers a great way to watch Spanish TV online. Sling TV’s normal base packages do not offer any Spanish language channels – however, they offer a Best of Spanish TV package that’s sold on it’s own for just $10 per month. This is one of the most economical ways to watch Spanish TV without cable. The package includes:

  • NBC Universo
  • History en Español
  • EstrellaTV
  • Azteca
  • Discovery en Español
  • Discovery Familia
  • BeIN Sports Español
  • BeIN Sports
  • La Liga
  • BeIN Sports Connect
  • Cine Latino
  • Cine Sony
  • Pasiones
  • Inglés Para Todos
  • Inti
  • Cbeebies
  • VME Kids
  • PXSports
  • NTN24
  • BabyTV en Espanol
  • El Financiero
  • Zee Mundo
  • Hola TV

That gives you around 25 networks for $10 per month, which is a pretty great deal. If you want to expand selection further, you can either add one of the English-language base packages, or you can add a Spanish add-on. Here are the other Spanish language add-ons available:

Mexico – $5 per Month – adds Canal Once, CB Television, MultiMedios, Mexicanal, AZ Clic, TeleFormula, Milenio Television, AZ Cinema, TLR, Video Rola and Corazon.

Spanish Movies on Netflix

Netflix is a great go-to source for Spanish language content. Now if you have been using regular Netflix to find Spanish language content, it might be a little difficult. Unless you know exactly what to look for, you will most likely find content in English first, with a handful of things in Spanish. However, that can be easily fixed.

To get Netflix content delivered to you in Spanish, hop on the computer and go to https://www.netflix.com. Once you log in, go to My Account and scroll all the way to the bottom. Under My Profile, click the option that says Language. From there you should be able to change your preferred language to Spanish.

Quick Note: Not everything that is available in English is available in Spanish, but at the very least you’ll have an easier time finding things.

Spanish Channels on fuboTV

fuboTV is an online streaming service with an emphasis on Spanish language television and international sports; especially soccer. There are three fuboTV subscription plans that you can choose from, but really you’ll probably only want the first two since the third is for those that speak Portuguese (fubo TV review).

The first subscription plan is called fubo Premier. It costs $45 a month and will give access to 75+ live channels; including the following Spanish language channels:

  • beIN Sports
  • Univision TDN
  • Fox Deportes
  • Univision
  • Galavisión
  • UniMás

Or you can go with fubo Latino. For $24.99 a month, fubo Latino gives you access to the following Spanish language channels:

  • beIN Sports
  • beIN Sports Español
  • Univision TDN
  • Fox Deportes
  • Univision
  • Galavisión

  • GOLTV Spanish
  • TyC Sports
  • CNN

Spanish Channels on PlayStation Vue

True, there are a few channels available but there are cheaper options available. For completeness sake, here are the Spanish language channels that you can get with PlayStation Vue, across various packages (starting from $45 a month):

  • Telemundo
  • ESPN Deportes
  • FOX Deportes

There is also a Spanish television add-on for $4.99 a month or $3.99 a month if you have a PS Plus membership. Here’s what you get with the Español Pack:

  • BabyTV
  • Cine Sony
  • CNN en español
  • Discovery en español
  • Familia Discovery

What is Hulu Live TV? Review, Channel List, Cost, and More

hulu with live tv review

Today, fans have more opportunities than ever to keep up with their favorite shows, news anchors and sports teams. What used to be available solely through pricey cable contracts is now available through more affordable online services! But with so many out there, how does one choose?

You may be considering Hulu with Live TV, a relative newcomer to the industry. But what is Hulu with Live TV, and how can it help you replace cable? Find out more in our Hulu with Live TV review.

What is Hulu with Live TV?

Hulu with Live TV is a streaming service that works over the internet. For a low monthly fee ($40/mo), you can sign up and get immediate access to live TV from many of the most popular TV channels. You just need a Hulu subscription, a compatible device, and a reliable internet connection.

Here’s the Hulu with Live TV review at a glance:

  • $40 per month
  • No contract or commitment required
  • Enjoy live streaming of 50+ channels
  • Get ESPN, FOX News, CNN, TNT, and much more
  • Use on all your devices – smartphones, Roku, Apple TV, computers and more!
  • Record live TV using built-in cloud DVR
  • Get free access to the Hulu on-demand library of shows and movies
  • Cancel at any time – no contract!

Hulu with Live TV is a newer offering from Hulu, which originally only offered on-demand content. Now they have both live TV and on-demand offerings. The Live version is fairly new, but it’s already exceeded 1 million subscribers and is growing very rapidly.

Essentially, this service is a cable TV alternative that gives you a similar experience at a fraction of the price. You will get a package of 50+ channels, including many of the most popular networks, all of which you can watch live. And you’ll get an extensive on-demand library (much larger than the standard on-demand library from cable providers)!

But if Hulu Live TV is so similar to cable, why both making the switch? Mainly price and flexibility.

The price divide is pretty clear – Hulu is $40 per month. The average cable bill is now a whopping $107 a month. That’s a more than 60% savings!

The flexibility angle is also fairly obvious. The majority of cable and satellite providers require at least a 12-month contract, with 24-months being more common. On the other hand, Hulu with Live TV requires a 1-month commitment. You just pay month-to-month, and are free to cancel at any time. And, in fact, since Hulu offers a free 7-day trial, you can actually try the service out with no commitment at all!

So, to sum up – what is Hulu with Live TV? It’s a flexible, affordable and easy way to watch LIVE TV without a cable subscription!

How does Hulu Live TV work, though?

How Hulu with Live TV Works

Hulu with Live TV is an online service. This means you need a solid internet connection in order to use it. Experts recommend that you have internet speeds of at least 5 to 8 mbps in order to stream TV in HD picture quality. For reference, the average speed in the US is 18.7mbps, so most people already have fast enough internet.

Beyond internet, all you need is a compatible device to use. Here are the basics of how Hulu Live TV works:

  1. Sign up for Hulu with Live TV here (you’ll get a free trial for 7 days)
  2. You will get 50+ channels for $40 per month
  3. Choose to add premium channels like HBO if you want (extra cost)
  4. Sign into your Hulu with Live TV account
  5. Immediately you can start watching live TV on your computer!
  6. Next, sign into your account on all your other device (Roku, smartphone, etc.)
  7. Enjoy the ability to stream live TV on all your devices
  8. Pay your bill month-to-month, without a contract
  9. Enjoy the freedom to cancel your service at any time, without a penalty

That’s the basic rundown of how this service functions. You’ll find that once you have things set up, the service functions in a similar manner to cable. You can cruise through channels in a grid-like pattern, search for specific channels and shows, and browse the on-demand library. You’ll also get a handy DVR function for recording TV that’s built into the service, and does not require a separate device.

Those are the basics – but what is Hulu with Live TV offering in terms of technical features?

Hulu with Live TV Technical Features

What is Hulu Live TV bringing to the table in terms of specific features?

Streaming quality – full HD (1080p). There is no 4K content currently, but Hulu has plans to add it in the future.

Frames per second – most channels are covered at 60 frames per second, except a handful of networks including CBS affiliates, which are 30fps. Hulu has plans to upgrade all channels to 60fps soon.

Device compatibility – works on most devices. Hulu with Live TV devices include computers, iOS devices, Android devices, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, and select Samsung and LG smart TVs.

DVR recording – cloud DVR is included for free, and lets you record live TV. Store up to 50 hours for free, or upgrade to 200 hours for an additional fee.

Simultaneous streaming – you can watch on 2 different devices (streaming 2 different channels) at the same time. Upgrade to unlimited devices for an additional fee.

That’s it for the Hulu with Live TV channel lineup!

Hulu with Live TV Cost

The Hulu Live TV price is a clear-cut $40 per month, with no contract. There’s only one base package to choose from.

That said, there are the add-ons discussed above, which each have additional fees ranging from $4.99 to $14.99 per month.

In addition, Hulu offers these feature add-ons:

Expanded Cloud DVR Storage – $14.99 per month – expands you storage from 50 hours to 200 hours.

Simultaneous Screens – $14.99 per month – expands from 2 simultaneous devices to unlimited.

So, bottom line, the Hulu Live TV cost depends on the specifics you choose. It could be as low as $40 a month, or as high as $75+ if you pick a bunch of add-ons and premium channels.
